Our Practice Level Erhu as Overachievers

Everyone starts out as beginners and practice Erhu is what we all use. Entry level Erhus are the cheapest for a few reasons: Cheaper wood used, lesser quality skin used, and less attention on construction to save cost. These are the largest factors that make them "entry level". But not us.

Our practice level Erhu is crafted with great attention to detials and usability, same as our high-tier instruments. Our products are trusted by famous erhu teachers and prestigous academys for one reason:

We actually craft and design for practice and performance.

Practice level Erhu should be easy to use, smooth in hand feel, responsive so you can notice improvements, and sing beautifully so you don't give up on practice because the erhu sounds terrible.

Our practice level Erhu performs very well with almost anything you play, but weaker in high complexity traditional compositions. The sound charactersitics are less nuanced to the more experienced ears, but is unquestionably superor compared to any mass produced entry level erhu that you can easily find online.

The Most Popular Material In Traditional Instrument Making

The python skin produces sound with great nuance and details. The amazing elasticity and tension retention of the python skin makes it optimal for sound generation, and each piece of python skin is unique in pattern, designed by mother nature herself.

The downside, is its sensitivity to temperature and humidity change, causing the drasitic change in sound charactersitics and performance. Basically, it "gets sick" quite easily, and needs a certain level of maintanence to stay in peak conditions.

The technique and experience in skin application can be considered the "secret formula" to every Erhu maker, contributing up to 70% of the sound quality and performance of an Erhu. Sound from a well treated python skin can create the most elegant, yet penetrative tunes, filling out the entire space with great power. A poorly applied skin, however, creates pitchy, metalic, unpleasant sound, and are often unresponsive at certain positions.

If you are a fan of the traditional look and organic nature of the python skin, you will not be dissapointed. Our precision in creating the most nuanced sound in every instrument, sound charactersitics of all styles, is what sets us apart.

The Leading "Vegan" Option In Our Industry

Our “Synthetic Concert Skin”,  initially designed for professional use to maximize sound performance and stability for concerts and recording sessions.

In order to promote a more sustainable industry with minimal animal product used for future generations, and to share the technology of high consitency in sound quality and stability, our "synthetic concert skin" has offcially been made available in each instrument level, in any wood - skin combination, for all Erhu players.

With near perfect mimic of organic sound, and being used in over 50% of professionally produced Erhu music / performances in the past decade by prestigious erhu masters, our synthetic option is a must have in your collection.
